Chile, like its neighbor Argentina, went through a significant immigration from Europe that had an important effect on it's demographics. Currently Chile is one of two Latin-American countries to have a positive migration rate which is resulting in an ever-growing ethnic diversity.
LOCATIONS
Chile is bounded on the east by Argentina, on the north by Peru, on the northeast by Bolivia, and on the west by the Pacific Ocean.
The country's long and narrow territory allows for a variety of landscapes that range from the Atacama Desert, one of the driest places on earth, to rich meadows that progress to colder climates which eventually conclude in the southern glaciers. All the while having the Andes mountain range serve as the country's backdrop.
Santiago, the capital, sits in a bowl-shaped valley surrounded by mountains nd is on approximately the same latitude as Capetown and Sydney. The city's architecture is composed by a combination of both modern structures and Spanish colonial buildings.
