TALENT
Uruguay is a multiethnical society which shares its cultural background with its neighbor Argentina.
Most Uruguayans are descendants from colonial-era settlers and immigrants from Europe but also includes citizens of African descent as well as Asians among other ethnic groups.
LOCATIONS
Uruguay is bounded on the west by Argentina, on the north and northeast by Brazil, and on the southeast by the Atlantic Ocean.
To the south, it fronts the Río de la Plata, a broad estuary that opens out into the South Atlantic.
Montevideo, the capital and major port, sits on the banks of the Río de la Plata and is on approximately the same latitude as Capetown and Sydney.
Many of the European immigrants arrived in the late 19th century and have heavily influenced the architecture and culture of Montevideo and other major cities.
For this reason, Montevideo and life within the city are very reminiscent of Western Europe.
Most of Uruguay's land is low-lying and flat to gently rolling. Grassy plains predominate, especially in the southwest, which is part of the Pampas region.
Hilly land occurs as ridges called cuchillas. Uruguays highest point, 1,644 feet (501 m), is in the Cuchilla Grande near the Atlantic coast.
Sandy beaches, dunes, and shallow lagoons are among the features along the coast
CLIMATE INFO

January, the warmest month, averages 74° F. (23° C)
June, the coldest, averages nearly 53° F. (11.5° C.)
